looking good is a good thing, but being healthy in the pursuit of looking good is even better.

Friend, you'll be up to speed in your image and health. Follow the next 4 Amazing Keys to Unlock a 'Nice and flat' Stomach

1. If you like targeting, focus on the entire core.

Sometimes we feel we just have to focus on ab exercises to target our abs—gym indoctrination and buff mantras. The best thing to do, to decrease your belly fatness and encourage flatness, is to strengthen your core. Why? You'll burn body fat and stimulate the muscles in your abdomen—the abs. Exercises like the plank and back squats help trigger the core muscles! As you regularly engage in similar core exercises your core will be strong, and the underlying muscles will be toned.

2. Don't worry about ab isolation.

Despite the trending ab exercises and variations of doing a crunch, you abdominal fat cannot be targeted because it's not a muscle—fat cannot contract or get firm. It stays soft and gel-like. So what to do about that 'gel mass'? Nothing directly, but focus on "whole-body workouts", that stimulate muscles to burn total body fat indirectly.

By using your entire body to exercise, your muscles use stored energy, and the energy has to be replaced. How? Partially by breaking down fat cells and turning them into usable energy that the muscles use—glycogen. Need help getting a full-body workout? 3. Improve your eating habits.

As you tame your body to tame your belly, don't forget that your diet also has to be dominated. The fat covering your midsection, is largely there because of the food energy you put into your mouth. To keep it simple, focus on getting rid of the big things that destroy a healthy diet: microwavable dinners, fast food, chips, sodabasically foods that aren't cooked by you. Many times there is extra sugar and salt that work against you.

To help you break away, look at it this way: sugar is there to encourage you through taste and the salt helps preserve it until you are ready to eat what you shouldn't. If you don't have time to cook, do what most consistent people do in a "crunch for time", snack on whole foods like fruits, vegetables and lean protein—it keeps calories low, compared to unhealthy whole meals spread throughout the day.

P.S.— Don't let bread trick you, because it can be tempting to over-indulge due to its sweetness and texture.

4. Avoid 'mysterious calories' in alcohol.

It may sound strange because alcohol is not sweet nor solid, but know that the calories in alcohol do count towards body fat storage. Alcohol encourages weight gain because it makes you feel good about drinking it. This may cause your desire to stop to be easily dismissed as you are enjoying it. With this understanding, occasional drinking can lead to seemingly harmless regular drinking. The more drinking you do, the more calories you take in—not considering the yeast in it that triggers 'belly bloat' in both men and women.

THE BOTTOMLINE

Only knowing "how to get a flat stomach" is not going to solve the problem of achieving a 'nice and flat stomach'. It is also going to take you having consistency and self-awareness to get solid results. If you manage those factors, your hardwork turns into a 'stroll in the park'. Take the time to gently alter your schedule to make fitness a regular part of your life and you'll be happy you did.
